Philip Logan plays for 1000 people at Presidential Investiture
University of Akron MM candidate, Philip Logan, was selected to play as a soloist, with a dancer, as part of the musical opening of the University's Investiture ceremony for its new president, Scott L. Scarborough. Before a packed E. J. Thomas Performing Arts Center hall, Logan was featured along with only the Symphonic Band, the faculty woodwind quintet and one other soloist, student jazz pianist Theron Brown, who just returned from filming his role as Herbie Hancock in the upcoming feature film about Miles Davis,
Miles Away
, with Don Cheadle and Ewan McGregor.
Logan sat on the stage next to University luminaries, as he accompanied dancer Erica Piper in choreography by Kara M. Stewart. He played Etude No. 1 by Francis Kleynjans. It was a beautiful performance that was much appreciated by the large crowd.
